US4GREENCHEM – Combined Ultrasonic and Enzyme treatment of Lignocellulosic Feedstock as Substrate for Sugar Based Biotechnological Applications

Short introduction of project idea: US4GREENCHEM aims to design a biorefinery concept for the complete valorization of lignocellulosic biomass that is energy- and cost- efficient and based solely on green technologies. The concept combines mechanical pretreatment of the substrate with the aid of ultrasound to overcome its recalcitrance and disrupt inhibitors with mild CO2 hemicellulose degradation and with the enzymatic recovery of sugars and technologies for the valorization of the byproducts released in the process.

„LIFE-PURIWAT – New demonstrative pilot plant for the purification waste water with oils, fats and hydrocarbons”

Total project value: 1 238 408 €, up to 499 175 € EU contribution.

Short introduction of project idea: To design and develop a pilot plant, with a treatment capacity of 5000 dm3 per hour, which will be able to remove between 97% and 99% of hydrocarbons, oil and fats from wastewater.

Short introduction of project idea: The successfully implemented SORBENT project had led to the development of the novel cost-efficient SORBENT soil remediation technique consisting of 3 individual components: SORBENT system, SORBENT bacterial preparation and phyto-remediation. Thus the SORBENT-DEMO project is targeted to full-scale demonstration of the novel SORBENT soil remediation technique applied in-situ to sites contaminated with heavy hydrocarbon mixtures.

Brief introduction of the Project idea: During the project, biotechnological synthesis from oils, grease and other renewable sources is being researched. Most perspective synthesis processes are selected and manufacturing technologies to obtain and evaluate the experimental production – controllable flammability ageing-resistant biodegradable esters, are introduced. Suitability of the esters is examined in two areas: as plasticizers, used in plastic production, and like basic lubricants, used in bio lubricants.

Projects of European Research and Developments Cooperation Program “Eureka”, International Programs 5 Framework and 6 Framework, in which company take part are covered by laws of EU.

The purchase price paid for the JSC “Biocentras” preparations and technology by end users grants them a non-transferable, non-exclusive license to use preparations and technology for their needs only, not for resale. A separate commercial license is available from JSC “Biocentras” for commercial uses or applications.
